This place preys on unsophisticated computer users. I was charged $550 (more than the worth of my 5-year-old laptop) for virus removal and a 1GB ram upgrade which the owner said that I needed in order to get my machine up to speed. When I got my computer home I found that documents which were to have been retrieved during the system reinstall were missing. Only at my insistence did they reluctantly check their backup and located my missing documents. I was told that it was my fault because these documents were in "obscure" locations.in addition, I had to go elsewhere to get my computer up and running after Chipmenders worked on it. It was at this time that I found out that the ram installed by Chipmenders wasn't even new. I had been charged $150 for a used HP part that was at least 3 years old and which was no longer under manufacturer's warranty. A new part was readily available for my computer for under $20. When I called to complain the owner told me that if I wanted a new part, I should have said so. She also told me that any guarantee on the work done by Chipmenders was now "void" because someone else had worked on my computer.
