I had almost forgotten about the manipulative phone call received several months ago until today when I was balancing my checkbook. I noted a suspicious sum of money that had been deduced from my checking account.
When the bank told me it was for "AOL Travelers Advantage" I flew into a rage. AN AOL telemarketer/salesman had called at dinnertime (as usual) and kept going on and on and on about some travel club, turning everything I said around, making me almost scream.
Being on a limited retiree's income I never agree to such promotions, so she finally asked if I would agree to reviewing material from AOL about the promotion/offers. There would be no money invoved. I gave her my address. The package of material never came. I never saw any material from AOL and I never agreed to being part of this travel club, yet today—April 23— I noticed $79.99 had been taken out of my account on April 17 by AOL Travelers Advantage.
This was a scam. AOL was manipulative and dishonest. I will never have anything to do with this company again.
