Privacymatters123 sent through a membership I did not authorize, in fact I intentionally unmarked the box

I was renewing my Classmates.com membership and saw a box off to the side on the billing page that said that I authorize membership in PrivacyMatters123 to safeguard my identity. I intentionally unmarked the box. 8 days later a charge for $19.95 to AP9*Healthplan showed up as pending on my bank account.

I Googled AP9*Healthplan and found whole sites dedicated to complaining about this company and its rip-off schemes. What I have been able to learn from these sites is that this company goes by several different names and claims to do everything from provide supplemental healthcare plans to preventing identity theft.

One of the consumer complaintss I read provided a phone number to call (877) 993-6264, so I called and cancelled the membership and prevented the bill from going through.

What makes me so angry is that I saw the box and intentionally unmarked it and the company got my personal information anyway.
