On December 5th, Eve Bernstein hired my web design firm to redesign her directory website, Miami-Dade.com. After much discussion with Eve and her husband, Jake, we decided to create a custom Content Management System for them at a price of $1000. The terms of the arrangement were that half of the funds were to be paid in advance, with the balance due upon completion of the project.
We began work immediately upon receipt of their deposit and within about a week, the initial database website was up and running. We sent several emails to Eve requiring her feedback on specific items but received no response until late December.
We took her responses and feedback and implemented the changes, as well as additional features and functionality, but again, it was a couple more weeks before we could get Eve to concentrate on this project and provide required content and feedback.
Finally, during the first week of February, we thought we were just about finished with the project when all communication from Eve or Jake ceased. We sent emails, left voicemails, and received no response. We escalated to sending invoices and threatening letters and still no response.in the meantime, our access to her server was revoked and therefore our ability to remove our work from her server was denied. We were able to shut down the new database, but cannot remove it.
Eve and Jake Bernstein's new website is essentially finished. All that we have left to do before the project is complete is the implementation of additional directory categories, which Eve has failed to supply despite numerous requests. We were ready to make the site live upon final payment, but no payment has been made and none of our attempts to communicate or resolve the matter have been returned.
To date, Eve and Jake Bernstein, d.B.A. Miami-Dade.com, owe us an outstanding balance of $500 plus late charges.
