I cancelled anything and everything to do with AOL today. I was "talked into" trying AOL Credit Alert and AOL Netmarket some time ago. I keep all of my paperwork and write everything down.
I cancelled my "trial membership" to AOL credit alert on 2-14-03- I talked to "Mandy". She informed me that she would cancel my "trial membership" but that it was still good thru mid April. She did not say that I would have to call back or anything.
Today when I checked my bank balance, I was in the negative!!! AOL Credit Alert took out $79.99. I got on the phone right away and told them that I cancelled in February. All I got from "Clarence" was that he was sorry and I would have my money back in 10 business days. What good does that do me today when my account is negative??? This is a total rip off and consumers should be aware that they will more than likely still be charged for their trial memberships even if they cancel!!!
When I called to cancel my AOL online account, I explained the situation to "Matt" and he said that it really has nothing to do with AOL... I'm confused... AOL Credit Alert has nothing to do with AOL???
