I get numerous emails for software and on-line purchases. Most of the time I just delete them. This is what I did with emails from Webroots since I no longer use their software. Recently I recieved an email with "Automatic Renewal" in the header of the email. I did open this one. Much to my dismay it was a notice that they had automatically renewed their software for me and charged my credit card $29.95 tax.
I can't believe that this kind of tactic is legal. This company is obviously very loosely operated and with very low morals.
I would advise anyone considering purchasing software from Webroots think very seriously about this kind of tactic they use.
I also called the number that was included in the email notifiying my about my automatic renewal. I got sent to a recording telling me to send them an email. This does not do me any good, and I would bet it never will.
I hope we can get enough people who have been ripped off this way to start a class action suit.
