I tried Shadow Shoppers with a trial membership for $2.95. I am a stay at home mom and just wanted to bring in extra money. I didn't have the necessary items on my computer to do the jobs I wanted. Since it was a trial and I knew they couldn't charge me to renew it because I made sure to click no on the button that said auto renew, I just let it go and thought at the end of the month they would send me an e-mail to renew and I would have said no. But instead they auto renewed me and because of it, It made my bank account in the negative. I had to borrow money from a family member to put money in my bank account to cover the other charges I made.
I sent them an e-mail because that is the only way to contact them, and my response from them was there hands were tied and they couldn't do anything about it. They took the money out of my account on 02-09-09 and they said i couldn't cancel it because the membership already started. I called my bank and canceled my check card so they could not charge me further and I also filed a dispute.
That was yesterday so I don't know how long until I hear from someone to see how this case is going. I know $59.99 doesn't seem like that much money to some people, but the only income we have is my husbands and we have 2 small children. With the economy the way it is right now we need every penny we have. I feel violated that not only did they steal from me and my husband but they stole from our two little girls.
