Caution:
Bogus interviews to apparantly attempt to gain proprietary information about competition
HealthMEDX in Ozark, MO are currently advertising an open position for a software consultant. This is NOT a large office, however this position is posted every few weeks, consistently.
This company has a history of calling applicants who are currently employed by their direct competitors. Representatives from HealthMEDX act extremely interested initially, and want the applicant to interview almost immediately. The applicant is quickly brought into the office, where again they are repeatedly led to believe that HealthMEDX is very likely to offer them the position.
The position is described to be interesting, lucrative with good benefits, rewarding, ect. The unsuspecting applicant will then be brought into a conference room with two interviewers, who will continue to lead the applicant to believe that they are being seriously considered for the position, but that it is such an intense and challenging job that the interviewers have to be absolutely sure they have a good match. Fair enough, except that the two interviewers' tactic is to start sounding a little unsure about the applicant, so that the interviewee is likely to want to reassure the interviewers that (s) he truly is the right person for the job.
About that time, the interviewers begin firing questions to the applicant, which are much more about what is going on at the company where the applicant is currently employed. Before you know it, they will even be trying to ask for your current boss' proprietary information, such as detailed information about how your current employer builds and develops medical software, trying to find out what projects are in the works at your workplace, ect.
As soon as the employees at HealthMEDX have learned what they can about their competition from the applicant, the candidate, no matter how well-qualified for the position posted at HealthMEDX, is likely to never hear from HealthMEDX again. No reason is given.
Curiously, after HealthMEDX pulled this stunt with me, the open position immediately stopped being posted for a few weeks. I find it unlikely that HealthMEDX hired another healthcare professional who also knows how to do clinical analysis for medical software within less than a week, especially since after only a few more weeks the "position" was posted again.
It would be interesting to know how often HealthMEDX ever really hires anybody after going through the above process.
