New Computer Worked for 10 days only! No repair, no refund! Riverside

I bought a new DELL on the 7th of August from Staples, in Connecticut, for my small business, to be prepared for the new academic year. I had my data transferred to the new computer at a considerable cost. After a vacation, I returned to Connecticut on the 29th of August. On the 10th of September the computer flaked out. After restarting a few times, the computer became even less responsive. A computer professional in town told me to ask for a replacement, since this was a faulty product. Staples told me that they will only take a return within 14 days. (Lesson learned: never buy a computer before your vacation!). We made multiple calls to Dell, who refused to take the case, because it was supposedly still owned by Staples. We transferred ownership (what nonsense!) which took hours and hours and many days.

We spoke to technical support at Dell, who diagnosed the problem long-distance supposedly and they promised to send a tech person on the 15th of September. This person never showed. We called, and they never had sent the person, because the 'transfer of ownership' had supposedly never occurred! (Can someone explain to me why I didn't own the computer that I can show to have paid for by credit card?)

Since I needed the computer for my business, (I had already lost a week) I purchased another computer and had the data transferred to this computer (at considerable cost!).

Now I wanted to return the computer for a refund.
We called many more times, to no avail. Frustration was so high, my business suffered under the time constraint and the frustration level.

In November we took up the issue again. We have spent three or more hours a day for the last 5 days trying to contact Dell. It's always the same run-around: machine to customer service to technical support, and no one is allowed to issue a refund.

The status: I have a 'new' computer that was used for 8 days or so and is not able to boot up. It's not working, and it's in the warrantee period. Why can't I get a refund?

I am happy to ship this computer back to Dell, if I can get the refund for the full cost.in principle, I believe they owe me also for the cost of transfering the data to twice, and let's not even mention my time wasted!
Any advice is welcome!
