Gamestop promised to give "virtual code" in 48 hours. Nothing after 5 days, THEN made a lame excuse and didn't care!

So. For my husbands birthday, I bought him a 500.00 gamestop gift card, realizing they "promise" to deliver it after 48 hours. Which would be WELL in advance for my husbands birthday...

Well - guess what? It never showed up. When I checked the status, it continually said "verifying".
Well - I email them to find out the issue, and was promptly told that they had to verify my credit card WITH my bank, and since they "couldn't" (allegedly) that I needed to send them a full credit card statement by fax.

Okay - NO! I don't want their sleazy employees asking for my bank statement, then using it to buy whatever they want. So I said that I am not sending my personal details, they then informed me that they could not process my order.

When asked why they didn't inform me there was a problem - they said they had sent emails... Funny thing is, I didn't get it, and I DO have a spam folder that I check regularly to make sure there are no displaced emails, so their NEGLIGENCE caused me a big inconvenience in the fact that their "promised" delivery of 48 hours actually NEVER came - and they hadn't the decency to inform me there was an "issue"

And what is this about sending my credit card statement? It seems like a pretty weird policy, my gut feeling tells me they were trying to take it and rip me off.
So be VERY wary - the people at gamestop.com, the employees are obviously trying to obtain your personal information to either sell it, or use it for their own benefit and clean you out.

Also - if this IS some legit policy (which I know it not to be considering I bought a gift card earlier in the year and this did not happen) - then they should be ashamed of themself for their lack of professionalism and customer service.

As it stands - the money is still "on hold" in my bank account and if it is charged to me after I have now told them to cancel the order (since its pretty much useless and their lack of helpfulness made me reluctant to deal with them and wary of their suspicious behavior..).. If that amount if still charged to me, they will be stuck with a HEFTY lawsuit.

But. The bottom line is. They do not deliver what they say, they have suspicious "con like" behavior in asking for more of your personal information. And I know that I will definitely not be using them again.
