This company, PlaceSettings.com, and its owners, Robert and Karen Marossy, are a total fraud.
My experience is the same as that of many others — I ordered Wedgewood china from them in early April and immediately paid approximately $320 to them through PayPal. They acknowledged my order but nothing was sent.
I e-mailed them in late April asking if they had sent the order. They replied that the china was "on backorder at the factory at least 4-6 weeks with the emphasis on the at least". I replied asking them to cancel the order and refund my money since I could not wait that long. They immediately acknowledged the cancellation but did nothing about refunding my money.
I have e-mailed them several times but received no response. As of early June their web site is no longer active, and the e-mail address they had been using ([email protected]) had been terminated. I found another e-mail address ([email protected]) to which I sent one last demand.By now that one too has probably been discontinued.
I have filed complaints with PayPal and the North Carolina Attorney General's Office, and will shortly contact the Matthews police and others.
I urge all who have been scammed by these people to make complaints to everyone you can think of, and especially to file a complaint with complaint. If there is a class action law-suit filed against them, complaint will let you know and you can take part in it — maybe get at least some of your money back.
