A Liteonit CD player came installed in a newly purchased computer and did not work. Driver updates and installs were attempted with no success. Their website is "USER UNFRIENDLY" and did not list their product drivers in the drop down menu for the player by model number.
An online request form was completed to request help, and a non-responsive computer generated reply answered the request. We asked to be allowed to communicate with a human being, and spent two weeks attempting to communicate with a "customer service representative" who knew hardly any English, and could not write a single literate sentence.
He did not know how to instruct us to find the correct drivers on their website, could not understand that the link he provided did not contain the model number we had furnished him, he could not read our pleas for help or our threats to complain to the Federal Trade Commission, he did not know what the term "warranty" means, he did not know anything about the responsibility of a seller to a purchaser to provide a product that does what they claim it will do, was unfamiliar with the term "class-action lawsuit", and refused to involve his supervisor in attempting to communicate toward resolution of the problem, and finally several weeks later, did finally involve a supervisor who was equally illiterate in written English and American customs and business practices and standards of excellence and fair play and ethics and adherence to the laws and regulations affecting businesses selling products in interstate commerce.
Finally, the supervisor advised that our product would not do what was claimed in all references to it in their marketing literature, on their website, and in the description of the product in my computer.
I would not install a Liteonit product on the computer in my dog's doghouse. I would not buy ANY computer in which a Liteonit product is installed. I would not buy any product from any company that has an interest in Liteonit or which purchases Liteonit at the upcoming bankruptcy auction that is inevitable if they persist in their crappy customer service. (Oops, what customer service. They have NO customer service, and don't even know what the term "service" means.)
Their CD drive now is used in my acquarium to serve as a place where my fish can have privacy when they take a crap.
