Rips off Customers Online with Poor Quality Products and Even Worse Customer Service, Buyer Beware

We have been shopping and purchasing jewelry on Bidz for over one year. We have watched the quality of their products decline to the point that about 90% of the products they now offer can be classified as junk with zero value. Buyers should be especially careful with diamonds. We recommend not purchasing diamonds unless you fully understand the 4-C's and then you still need to be very careful. We have returned several diamonds because of poor quality and improper description. Most recently, we purchased some diamond studded earrings that were described as SI (eye clean). Every stone was so full of black carbon spots that they looked like chunks of coal. We returned them for a refund stating that they were not eye clean (SI) as described. Bidz said they were as described and charged a 15% restocking fee plus shipping... This experience costs us around $600. We rarely get a full refund... Usually only in cases where something is broken. We have also purchased diamonds that have been damaged during cutting... Have cracks and other imperfections. You need to carefully inspect the diamonds you purchase with a loop or have an expert perform an inspection. Most have poor color, poor clarity or have been poorly cut. To be fair, we have purchased a few good stones from Bidz at good prices but we have returned just as many. We use to see more stones worth bidding on. Last year we might bid on 20% of the diamonds we saw... Now the number is less than 5%. The quality has really gone down. Most are such poor quality that we wouldn't purchase them at any price. Never purchase stones from them that have been "enhanced". These are basically junk stones that have been damaged or have large inperfections that they try to cover-up. We have returned all of the "enhanced" stones that we have purchased and will never bid on another one.

Bidz customer service is extremely poor. Most agents you speak with do not understand jewelry or even Bidz policies. We have purchased 100's of items from Bidz and they closed our account once over a $100 dispute. The worse part is that they didn't even notify us that our account had been closed. We went to purchase an item and found that our account had been closed and had to contact customer service to find out why... It seems that the company is now trying to make money on returns. They charge 15% on returns plus a shipping charge. They will only provide a full refund if an item is damaged or if it was improperly described. Guess who decides if an item is improperly described? We have never seen a case where Bidz admitted that an item was improperly described... Even if you have an expert refute their description or quality judgement.

We still purchase a few items from Bidz but are very careful and only purchase items we fully understand that are offered at cheap prices. However, we do say buyer beware if you shop at Bidz and do not expect a 100% refund if you are not satisified. Most consumers who shop at Bidz get ripped off and many do not even know it.
