I ordered some memory from BuyAIB.com a few months back for my new mainboard, which supports PC3200 DDR memory. Well, recently I just bought a new AMD 2600 processor that boasts a 333MHz front side bus.in order to get that processor to run at it's rated speed, you need PC3200 memory. That's what I bought from BuyAIB.com, or, so I thought.
I had installed the new processor, and guess what? Couldn't boot the system. After spending hours trying setting after setting, I came to the conclusion that the reason why the new processor wasn't working correctly is because the memory BuyAIB.com sold me could not run at the speed it was supposed to run at.
So, I opened my system up, pulled the memory out, ripped off the heatsinks that BuyAIB had installed so that I could see the numbers inscribed on the chips, then I called Micron, gave them those numbers, and what did I find out? The memory that BuyAIB sold me was actually PC2100! I have a stick right here in front of me.
There is a label on the side that says, "BuyAIB.com PC3200 256MB 400MHz." I can tell you right now... This is NOT PC3200 DDR. If it were, I would have been able to run my system at the rated speeds. And, if Micron states that the chip numbers are PC2100, then this memory IS PC2100.
If you're reading this, NEVER buy anything from that company. Any company that pulls crap like this deserves to be put OUT of business!
