Number 1, I've used the internet for years... Surf like everyone else, pay bills and order things from different websites. Never have I had something happen to me like this.
Today, I was checking my bank statement, online, and immediately noted an error. I hadn't checked it in about 2 1/2 weeks and just wanted to make sure that everything jived. As I went down through my checkbook and marked off everything that I had done, I ran into this charge, listed on my online statement, for $104.40 from people pc internet service. I went nuts... Where in the hell did this come from? I already have high speed dsl from my phone company and am quite satisfied with it. I know I didn't sign-up for it. I called the bank.
The first person I talked to at the bank was very helpful, but ask if I did shopping on the internet. I told him I do from time to time. He then stated that some sites, not all, have these types of services (embedded) in their sites and you are unaware that when you make a transaction for something else that you are charged for something you really didn't want or order.
They then sent me to loss prevention at the bank... The young lady that I spoke with said they would adjust my account by midnight and would have to issue me a new card in 7 to 10 business days. This doesn't mean that I will get a refund of the money... Just that they'll put it back until its been resolved with people pc... I now have a case number with the bank.
I did call people pc... What a treat, yeah right. The person I spoke with was in India, could hardly understand me, but confirmed that I had made an order for People pc internet service. I said the hell I did... They even had the right debit card number and my address... You talk about being mad...
Bottom line: I didn't order this, don't need it and am very pissed at people pc. Just like to hear back from some others if they have experienced something similar.
