I signed up with WAMU because of the online bill pay. I signed up the middle of Nov 07. I setup my next direct deposit to split between my regular credit union and WAMU for my first deposit to them. At that time it was stated that I would be receiving my checks and debit cards in just a couple of weeks. Should have been in plenty of time for my deposit.
So I waited. Meanwhile I had deposits there that I couldn't do anything with so I transferred the money to my credit union. I called WAMU and complained that I had money that I couldn't access and that was ridiculous. The person said the checks were mailed and I should get them any day. The transfer to my credit union took EIGHT business days. I was appalled.in this day and age I can't get money from one bank to another in less time?
I called to complain again a few days later, still not having received my card or checks. I am told they were mailed and there is nothing they can do.
Ok so meanwhile I go to do some setting up of things on the WAMU site. Now I get to a point where it wants me to enter my full account number. Wow that should be easy right? Where is that? Ok so I check my sign up email from them. Nope last for digits only. I look all over the website to see if I can find the full account number. Nope.
So I call, yet again. I am told I can access that in the information I got when I signed up, which I informed her was online and was only an email and did not have that info. She said I can get it from my online statement. Which has not been generated yet. Ok so I basically am screwed until I get my statement? Yes Ok. What the heck? I have a bank account that I don't have the account number for and I cannot access my money. How ridiculous.
Meanwhile, I still have no checks and no debit card. My debit card did show up about a week later, just a few days before the holidays. Still no checks, and another deposit hits. Ok no big deal I have the card. Since then it is now Jan 11th and I still have no checks. I have called 2 times with issues with my accounts since then and have had horrible customer service on both occasions. I canceled my direct deposit and am closing the account. What the heck kind of online banking takes so long to do anything. They should be ashamed to offer such a service nationwide and can't even keep up.
