I bought kevin trudeaus 'Weight Loss Cures " They" Don't Want You To Know About' on-line a couple of months ago. As expected, i had to enter my visa number into their site to buy the book. What was not expected was a further charge on my credit card the next month for membership to their site i was not aware of. Appearently when i bought the book i unknowingly signed up for membership.
I went back to their site to see how i had been duped. They make it almost impossible for the average consumer to even be aware of the fact that they will automatically be charged monthly for a service they probably don't even know about.
I phoned to de-subscribe and reached an automated system that required a membership number located on an invoice they had not sent to me before the system disconnected me.
I was finally able to de-subscribe only after waiting on hold for 17 minutes to reach a real person who told me that visa had already canceled my membership because i had disputed the charges. At least visa was helpful.
It's not right that a consumer has to assume they will be ripped off and look for it when doing business on-line.
