PC Direct
Confusing credit qualifications Internet

This retailer advertises on their website that they offer (to quote their website) "guaranteed computer financing for people with bad credit, no credit or past credit problems, if you are in need of computer financing, PC Direct can help". If you read their pitch, it has all the hype that you will be approved no matter what your situation, hence they use the word "guaranteed".in reality, once you get to the application page, they tell you that "you must have an experian score of 530 or above" period, and you must fax a copy of your credit score to them prior to them reviewing your application, this to avoid them running your credit and putting an inquiry on your credit report. DOES THIS NOT SOUND LIKE IT'S GUARANTEED FINANCING?
Their other requirements state you must be 18 or over. Have a valid checking account, debit card or credit card in your name to have the monthly payment automatically deducted from your account and have a gross income of at least $1300/mo.
While far exceeding these requirements but having a few credit blemishes in the past, I was declined! BUT WAIT, this is guaranteed financing isn't it?
Apparently not, by reading the fine print, you see that they say, in a totally different area of the website, under FAQ's, that "we do not guarantee approval, nor do they state any type of approval percentage rates".interesting.
How can this be? They said "guaranteed financing", doesn't this mean you are guaranteed to be approved. I guess NOT!
If you read further, again on a different area of their website, they state that they "guarantee an interest rate of 18%", damn that's alot!
I guess the words "guaranteed financing" means whatever you have in mind at the time. If it would have said "guaranteed financing rate of 18%" I think I would have understood. But "guaranteed financing" means I should have my computer and be using it right now! NOPE!
Based solely upon my personal dealings with this company, and the e mails I received from their customer support department trying to justify their vague and ambiguous advertising, I would reconsider and save money to buy a computer from your local retailer, without financing at such a high interest rate, but then that rate is guaranteed. You will also get a comparable computer for less, as I have researched and found these computers to be at the high end of the pricing scale.
Do yourself a favor, save the hassle and the mis-understandings, buy local and know exactly what you are getting with financing and financing rates, I am still confused by their website!
