I had purchased a domain name through this company and had also purchased their web hosting package.in August I called a customer support person at this company and had asked to move my web site to another server and I did. At that point I wanted to discontinue the web hosting services with 1and1.com as I no longer needed them. I only needed to keep my registration for my domain name with them. The customer support person knew what I was trying to do and failed to communicate to me that I needed to take an extra step to not be billed again for web hosting.
The months went by and I received a letter from a collection agency asking me for the payment for September and a fee on top of that. I called billing and they told me to write an e-mail to [email protected]. I did that and 6 days later (not 2 as they promised) I got an e-mail back from someone called Joseph Quinn (I called and asked for Joseph Quinn and they don't have that name in their directory as an employee.)
The e-mail from Joseph Quinn said that since the September bill went to collections there was nothing to do and I had to pay it. Also, as my account was in collections it was locked so I couldn't downgrade the package and the days were passing by. As the days pass by we get into a new month and they want to be paid for the new month as well for the web hosting package.
I feel that I am in a vicious circle where no one is really helping, I am being sent from person to person, their customer service people don't know how to help and I have to ask questions several times to get any answer. On top of everything my service is still active as web hosting and they want to get paid for October and November as well.
I think that this is very bad business and I don't suggest anyone should work with them at all. They are a nightmare.
