On 9/24/07 I went to the Apple Store in Santa Rosa Plaza Mall to purchase a gift card for my girlfriends birthday. She wants to get an ipod. I told the sales girl I wanted a gift card for $100 and handed her the money. I received a a black card with a silver apple on it inside of a black card type holder.
When my girlfriend opened it on 9/26/07 she noticed the inside flap behind the card it said it was for iTunes.com and could only be used for downloading from the internet. It also stated no refunds or exchanges. On the apple.com web site the card which looks like this one says it is only good for items in the store not iTunes.
I called the store that day and was told the card could be exchanged for one good for merchandise at the store. On 9/26/07 my girlfriend tried to exchange the card and was told by the manager it could not be done because it iTunes and Apple were 2 separate companies. So now my girlfriend cannot purchase an iPod with her card but she can download items for it.
At no time did the sales girl ask me if I wanted an iTunes card or say the sold more than one tye of gift card. Buyer Beware.
In my opinion this is a scam to sell iTunes cards to people. This is another example of bait and switch by this company.
