Hughes Net Misleading, dont tell you everything. You name it. Maryland

Yes you guessed it. Another very unhappy Hughes Net subscriber!

The misleading, the lies and the untold truth basicly started from the moment i was placing the order. I cant have dsl or cable, obviously, so i thought this was a good thing so i call to place an order. While asking questions, i asked the service rep. About online games. One of the reason's we wanted this was because my husband wanted to play online games he had bought. I asked the lady if this would be better with Hughes Net (since my husband was having a ping issue with dial up). She said "Yes, much better then dial up". Afterwards of which we found out was a lie due to the ping being higher. We place the order. She goes over with me the plan i had chosen, download speeds, upload speeds, the whole $80 for 24 months deal. She took my credit card number and that was it.
Finally the installer contacts me to make the appointment. She asked me if i had tree's near my home. I explain that there are tree's but none are near my home. She said the reason she was asking is because if there were tree's then the dish would have to be pole mounted. Something Hughes Net failed to explain, but that one is obvious. The installer finally comes out and he looks around, then asked me if pole mounting had been explained to me. I told him what the woman had said. He said it would have to be pole mounted. I asked why because there was no tree's in the way. He goes to telling me that Hughes Net will NOT let them istall the dish on certain homes (mine is a double wide). Again something Hughes Net failed to tell me. So we have to pay $125 they charge for the pole mounting. The installer gets it all up and running and without any explanation of anything nor him showing us anything, he leaves.
I start surfing and right then i am displeased with the service. It wasnt much faster then my dial up. So i start searching and find out precipitation can cause slow speeds. Something the installer failed to explain to me while he was installing this in the rain might i add. We had only had this thing 2 days and all of a sudden i basicly cant use it and this was 2 am in the morning. I eventually had to sign back on to my dial up. At 12 pm the next day it was still the exact same way. I call them and then and only then do i find out about the FAP (Fair Access Policy). Again something Hughes Net failed to tell me. Even then the guy didnt explain to me what "downloading" consisted of. I had to research that myself. My husband an i talked and we decided why pay for something we can not use half the time or that we are limited on. So i call to cancel. Since it is within the 30 day limit this is how they told me it was going to go. They will charge me $400. After the equipment is returned to them they will refund us $200. They will give us back $200 of the $400 they are going to charge us. Now when i placed the order i was told when the equipment is returned we would get a full refund. So we went from a full refund to now only getting $200. There is no doubt we are going to cancel but we are taking a loss by doing so. I would rather lose money and stay on dial up then deal with this comany any longer. So if you or someone you know is thinking if getting Hughes Net i highly advise against it.
