I received a notice from Britis Tobacco verication centre telling me that i had been chosen for a cash prize of U.S.$1,500, 000 from a draw of over 200,000 email addresses from countries all around the world.
They asked for my personal information so that the check could be processes.
After receiviong such information they informed me that I had two options of collecting my winnings:
1. Travel in person to collect your funds at their offshore financial centre in Saint Helier, Bailiwick of Jersey (British Crown Dependency). Wher i would be be required to present a valid International Passport as proof of Identification.
2. Have their affiliate courier company send the cheque to me. I was then advised that if I opted for the cheque to be couriered BRITISH TOBACCO MEGA JACKPOT PROMOTION, exempts itself from all liability related to this service.
They then went n to say that The reason for the courier option is for the fact of double taxation, that is if I were to come over to sign for the release of my winnings personally, I would have to pay taxes on the winnings in Saint Helier, Bailiwick of Jersey and then go and pay taxes on the same winnings in my country once the funds get there.
I later received notice from their courier that the cost of shipping the check to me the same ay would be U.S.$1410.10 which included the taxes, insurance, handling etc.
I was advised to send the money via Western Union since they did not accept credit cards or accept cash on delivery. This money was to be addressed to:
Mr. Ian Anderson
107 BUCKINGHAM PALACE ROAD,
VICTORIA, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM.
I realised that it was a scam and decided to do a serch on the courier service and fount ouut for sure that this scam had been done before.
I wish to say that people who commit these crimes are not only playing with peoples money but their dreams and by extension their lives. The cost to courier the check in my country is approximately T.T. $10,000.00. Thats money i did not have to begin with.
The bible says THOU SHALL NOT STEAL!!!
I pray to God that he have mercy on their souls upon their day of judgement.
