I too have been taken in the I/O Magic-Rebate Services rebate scam, but I bought my external hard drive on 11/23/06 at compusa.com not Circuit City.
After waiting 14 weeks and being lied to and hung up on when I called to inquire about the rebate, I wrote a letter to the CEO of I/O Magic Mr Tony Shahbaz. Last Friday I received a telephone call from someone who said she was from I/O Magic Rebates. I assume this is Rebate Services. The caller said that my check would be mailed on Monday March 19.
Today is March 23 and I have received today's mail with no check. Since the check is being mailed from California and I live in New York I assume that with the reputation of the Postal Service it could possibly take more than four days to arrive. I just called rebate services to make sure the check was mailed on Monday. I was third in the wait queue and after waiting ten minutes I was transferred to an answering machine.
I will check the mail again tomorrow, but I will be surprised if I receive a check as these people will do anything to keep stalling.
Anyone who reads these reports about I/O Magic and still buys one of their products will deserve what they get.
