We were sent a collection notice by afni, regarding an accont 6 years ago. Verizon never sent us any bill or contacted us regarding that bill and without actually trying to verify the address with us they sold it to afni. Even though our primary number at that time was with verizon and they did have our correct address. This disputed other number was another line we used for the internet, so it was basically connected to the modem. Now we have no way of knowing that the amount afni is claiming is the actual amount we owe but they are not willing to send us any proof, any bills. They are saying they are not a billing agency. Even verizon claims to have no information or records whatsoever of this account and tells us to ask afni for it. When we ask afni they totally deny us our right for the detailed billing info. How do we know if it is or it isn't a fradulent claim. What should be our next step and what is our right. For all we know its not our debt. Please comment!
Ps: If they do not send us the detailed billing info or any sort of record on the account what should we do?
