Ripoff high pressure sales pitch with hefty price tag

I too was contacted by America's Registry and got the full pitch about what a great service they provide. They don't reveal how they got your information or who provided them with the reference. Once they asked a few questions about my background, education, and work experience I got the "congratulations" speech and was informed it would cost me over $800.00 for a lifetime membership, or I could get a 5 year membership for about $500.00.

I asked what would happen if I purchased the lifetime membership and then was arrested and convicted of child molestation. Would I be removed from the registry? Would I get a refund? Who exactly updates my profile and makes sure I'm worthy for my entire lifetime? Guess what? Nobody checks on you after you pay the money. I then asked if I could think about accepting their offer or they could provide me with some references who could tell me exaclty what the "real" benefits were of belonging to this "exclusive" group. That's when the high pressure sales tactics kicked in. "We're under a time line to get this to the printer and I need a commitment now". When I complained about the high cost, I was informed that I could purchase a "two year trial membership" for a little over $200.00. I graciously declined to participate. Now you can publish a list of names of people who have paid to be in your book and call it legitimate if you want to, but I'm not as dumb as I think you are.
