In short, purchased a BENQ 19" LCD Monitor with a rebate of $50 promised. Mailed rebate materials expeditiously. About 3 months later, I get a note via email that your rebate can't be honored as it was not postmarked by the deadline date. Rubbish, as the Brits would say.
I repeatedly asked newegg.com to show me the evidence they had that it was not postmarked by the date required. Their email stated, "our records show...", but they would only resend the same message over and over again.
The monitor is great, the company newegg.com stinks. If they can't provide proof, i.E. The envelope with postmark, then they are scamming people. And, I don't like being scammed $50. I know now to certify this type of letter. Lesson learned. Other lesson is NOT to do business with newegg.com.
I will bet that newegg.com saves a lot of money on rebates that are not postmarked, come in incomplete, etc. (according to their records). Scam, pure and simple. If the company is not willing or unable to provide the evidence that supports their contention, then they are quite likely, not being truthful.
You save NO money by dealing with newegg.com.in fact, you pay too much if the rebate is not forthcoming. Beware!
