Reprehensible customer service, technical support

Called technical support because I could not get Windows to complete startup. I could access DOS though, so I wasn't too worried about the problem. First the rep walked me through restoring a previous version of the registry. It didn't fix the issue. Here's where they got me. He then asks me to log into DOS and walks me through a set of commands. I follow the instructions. I ask what these commands did. He responds that he removed my partition on my hard drive!?!?!

I was never told that something that extreme was the next SOLUTION to my problem. I lost a ton of data. At that point I asked them to help me retrieve my data. I was told they are not responsible for my data. I spent the next 4 exhausting hours talking to different representatives about getting some help retrieving my data since this was clearly negligence on their part not bothering to tell me they were wiping my hard drive. I finally was told that a VP (?) would be informed of my situtation and I would hear a response from him.

An hour later I get a call from Dell. Not from the director I was promised, but some lower level thug (can't recall his title). When I explain what was agreed upon in my previous call, his response was, "Too bad, you are dealing with me." I was literally exhausted from many hours on the phone coupled with the stress from losing all my data. I asked to resume on Monday. He begrudgingly agreed to call back. I was never called back. Be warned.
