I made a bid for something on ebay and won the bid. The seller gave me his snail mail address where to send the money. I sent it in a timely manner via the USPS and then waited. I politely emailed him once a week to ask when the item had been sent as a gentle reminder. The emails never bounced back to me, nor did he respond to me or even send the item.
Eventually, another user from ebay saw that I had given this particular seller a bad rating. She told me that he'd done the same thing to her. She also gave me his phone number, which I called. Of course nobody returned the message I left on the answering machine.
When a search was run on the user ID, a different name came up. The name of raven4pld gave them name of Paul E Jungquist of Lakewood, OH, United States; with the phone number of 216-221-7571. I called this particular number and spoke with Paul. His exact words after I explained what was going on were "Oh no, he's done it to me again." You make of that what you will. He said he would talk to Sean because he does know him and find out what was going on. Of course he has not called me back either.
I attempted to file a complaint with ebay, who told me they did not do anything unless an item was twenty five dollars or more. I mailed them back and told them that it shouldn't matter if something was four dollars or four hundred, I got ripped off by someone using their service. Every mail I got from them was auto response mail, which I imagine is pretty standard for that sort of thing since that was all I got. One of the auto response mails included a suggestion to file a complaint at fraud.org and the USPS site, which I did. I attempted again to make a complaint against ebay which got nowhere fast, but I did inform them that I would no longer be using their service because that was the first and last time I'd used it, although my husband had sold a football jersey with that service last year, so this isn't like we're heavy users of the ebay service. I also told ebay that I would suggest to anyone thinking of using their service that they not do so and I would tell them why.
I have yet to get my 14.00 back or the item I won on the ebay auction from the seller, Sean Murphy.
