Lack of customer service damaged products slow turnaround dishonest

Placed my original order for a generator on mon. 1/16/06. Got a confirmation email from them stating they recieved the order and were processing it. 3 days later i checked the status of the order online, still "processing" it. States on website orders take 2-5 business days to ship, but I still wanted to make sure everything was up tp par.

Called 800 number, confirmed order, expected to ship mon. 1/23/06. Checked status on monday, 1/23, no tracking number. Called again and was told they were out of stock of the model I ordered. The earliest they would get it and ship it was 2/10/06. Was told I could either wait, or upgrade to a model that was in stock, and wait till 1/25 for it to ship. I did that.

Order finally shipped on 1/25/06. I recieved it on 1/30/06. Here's where things really go wrong. Unpacked generator and found it to be broken in several different places. Called generator depot, explained situation and was given the runaround.

They wanted to ship me parts so I could repair it. Was told that this type of damage was typical and easy to fix. They blamed fedex for mis-handling the generator and told me they experience problems with fedex on a regular basis. Side note: the box was in excellent condition, but the generator was in peices. It look as if the droped it at the warehouse or before they put it in the box.

I paid $400 for this generator, and they expected me to REPAIR IT MYSELF! They told me it was no big deal and not to worry. They wanted me to fix internal parts that i had didnt know how to fix. Their damaged items policy states that if you tamper with it, the warantee is VOID. They wanted me to take it apart so they could get out of the warantee!

I told them that was unacceptable and I wanted to return it. They tried for a good 2 hours to get me to rip it apart and tell them what parts I needed. I told them I wasnt touching it. There was broken peices inside the box, broken switches, and even the battery was leaking acid.

So i finally got them to schedule a pick up for 2/3/06. Fedex came, got the generator, and delievered it to generatordepot on 2/13/06. Thorought this whole ordeal, they havent intititated contact via phone or email since they originally shipped the generator in january.

I am still waiting for my refund. They haven't emailed me to notify me they got the generator back even though it was delivered and signed for on feb 13.

A word to the wise — stay away from generatordepot.Us
