I found that Stamps.com was not a service that worked for my situation, so I called to cancel my membership. The person I spoke to was nice and told me that he would cancel my membership effective immediately, but I would still have to pay for the upcoming month.
I (naturally) protested, and he told me that I could continue to use the credit in my account to print postage until the end of the month. He said that if I did not use all of my balance, that it would be refunded to me. I let him cancel my membership, but immediately found my account frozen, with no ability to print the rest of my postage.
I phoned the company again and was told that I would not get a refund after all. At that point, the service reps became increasingly rude and abusive. They told me some more lies, about how they would fix the problem and how I could contact them for resolution. The 'contacts' they gave me were just other rude phone clerks.
I ended up paying almost $50 for a $5 plastic scale and two or three dollars' worth of stamps. What a Ripoff!
