Others have made complaints about paying the $4.95 shipping charge for the free product only to discover that they have enrolled in a monthly billing cycle for SurplusAlert. This is a sleazy and deceptive practice known as negative option billing. Unfortunately, it is legal. On the page where you give your credit card information is the fine print which states: "I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS CONSUMER TRANSACTION INVOLVES A NEGATIVE OPTION, AND THAT I MAY BE LIABLE FOR PAYMENT OF FUTURE GOODS AND SERVICES UNDER THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT IF I FAIL TO NOTIFY THE SUPPLIER NOT TO SUPPLY THE GOODS OR SERVICES DESCRIBED."
We are not a very discerning culture. We are too easily tricked and ultimately ripped off. Before you hand over valuables of any kind you must read and UNDERSTAND every word and phrase presented. It's not there for decoration!
