Once you've paid, they could care less about you. Unhelpful customer support, Bad computers, Ripoff

Over three years ago, I purchased a Dell Inspiron 2600 Laptop over the internet. I had no problems at all making the purchase, but that was were it all stopped. Once my purchase was made and paid for, I have had nothing but problems which I will list out below.

1. The promised delivery time was not held, rather the laptop came several weeks late.

2. The laptop was not as specified on the order form.instead of the specified English operating system, I had a Swedish operating system which was complete giberish to me.

3. The operating system was improperly installed as I kept getting error messages from the very first turn-on.

4. It took many phone calls (20) all over the place and over 2 months before this problem was fixed.

5. Since then, the computer has been plagued by crashes. To date it has crashed over 15 times. Sometimes because of a virus, but for the most part becase there is something inherently wrong with the computer. And it is no fault of mine as I am quite experienced with computers and always have it updated with the latest anti-virus and anti-spyware, firewall protection and software updates that are out there.

6. For a while, every time I called regarding these crashes, time would first be wasted verifying that I was actually a customer of theirs and then updating them on the previous problems as for some reason there was never any record of me or of my previous calls. Sometimes, over a hour would be taken up with this. Once this issue was resolved, though some re-informing them was always required. But they were still of no help.

First they wanted the stop code from the "blue screen of death" (my own naming) as without it they would not help me at all. So in order to get this I resorted to taking a picture of it with my digital camera. This way I wouldn't have to worry about the blue screen dissapearing before I found and wrote down the stop code.

However, once I had the stop code, which I then gave to the various people I spoke with at tech support, I found out that the code was irrelevant to them. They had no idea what it meant.instead the only thing I was told every single time I called was this: Reinstall the operating system, and should the problem persist call back and we will try something else.

Well I never heard what that something else was as every time I called it didnt matter that last time they told me to reinstall, they would just tell my to reinstall again. After this I stopped contacting Dell and instead starting contacting all of my friends in search of the computer genius who could help me, and eventually I did find that person. However, they were never able to fix the problem entirely.

7. At present my laptop is unuseable as it has crashed once again and I am tired of fixing it and dealing with a company that has not even acknowledged the various letters and phone calls of complaint that I have made. Rather all they try to do is to get me to buy more.
