About 2 months ago, in, I think, June of this year, I was using my PC, when all of a sudden, a screen popped up alertiing me to many file threats and offered the use of a software program on line to fix it. First, no mention of fee was stated. As you know, there are many free downloads for virus, security, and file correction. So I downloaded the program which proceeded to fix about 100, of over 200 problems, or so the program stated.
The program said that if I wanted all the problems corrected, I needed to pay them a fee by credit card. I do not remember the amount of the fee, although I think that it was over $100 dollers. Anyway, I exited from the program.
Yesterday, on 09/24/05, I received my CITI BANK monthly credit card statement, which showed an item of 119.25 charged to my card; the company was listed as PCDOCRX.net FROM vALRICO, FLORIDA. The authorization number is XXXX700 through CITI DRIVER'S
EDGE CARD, DRIVER'S REBATES. I do not know how to protest this so I plan to pay this fee with the rest of the bill.
By the way, and I do not know if it is relevant, but the same day thatI found PC Doctor, I did use MIGHTY MAX, a similar program, which I did pay for, and it works well.
Please advise me as to what steps, if any, I should take, and what you might be able to help me with.
Thanks for your consideration in this matte
