Briefly, NAMI claims to be an advocate organization for the mentally ill. They take your money and promise to do good with it.
Well as a client of NAMI in Fort Myers FL they will do no advocacy whatsoever if the doctors just don't want to do what they should be doing. NAMI doesn't want to rock the boat. I have been trying for a year to get doctors to fill out important paperwork and NAMI flat out refuses to push the issue.
Guess government (medicaide) doctors don't have to do what private doctors do.
