Nextrim, Coleanse Mislead me into thinking my free trial period was 30 days then finished unless I reorder

June 12, I stumbled across a Nextrim web page containing a free trial offer: The page led me to believe that by paying just for shipping ($4.95), I would receive 30 days worth of dietary supplements free. The page also had a link to a Cellan web page containing a similar free trial for its supposedly synergistic supplement. I took these two offers for myself and two more for my wife. The Cellan page also had a link to a Coleanse page that had a similar free trial that my wife elected to take, but I did not. Five bottles of capsules arrived in about 3 days, June 15.

On my Visa card on June 12, NEXTRIMBLISS charged $5.22 ($4.95US) twice, CELLANSHAPE.com charged $4.95 twice, and COLEANSESHAPE charged $4.95 once. Other than Nextrim being in US$, I was charged as expected.

But unbeknownst to me, on July 3 on the same Visa card, CELLANSHAPE.com charged $100.57 twice, and COLEANSESHAPE charged $77.99 once. Nextrim honored the free trial as I understood it, and did not approach me regarding further shipments.

Then around the end of July, two shipments of Cellan and one of Coleanse arrived for my wife, but no Nextrim, and shortly thereafter, my July 23 Visa statement arrived, revealing the above unexpected charges totaling $279.13. When I discovered these charges on my statement, I checked on-line to discover that on July 31 these unexpected charges were again charged to my card, making a total of $558.26 in unexpected charges.

At no time did the two merchants send me information indicating these charges would be applied. I did revisit the webpages and discovered buried in their fine print that the free trial was not for 30 days, as the website leads one to believe, but for 16 days.

So, on August 3, I called the phone numbers on the bottles in the shipments to protest the six unexpected charges, and to cancel any further charges and shipments. (I made notes based on the phone calls.) The best they would offer was to cancel further shipments and charges, and offer partial refunds. The offers were:

Shawn at Nextrim offered us two $25 credits, and two further $50 credits. Total $150.

Joshua at Cellan offered us two credits for $50, and two for $37.50. Total $175.

Mindy at Coleanse offered my wife $37.14.

I have confirmation numbers for all the above credits. Total credits $362.14.

On August 7, NEXTRIMBLISS issued two credits, each for $36.48 (not US!), CELLANSHAPE issued two credits, each for $25, and COLEANSESHAPE issued two credits for $50 each, and one credit for $37.14. Total credits so far: $260.10.

As of August 16 no further credits have been posted, leaving a shortfall of $102.04.

Its clear from the above that These three companies are working together (e.G., the $72.96 in credits from Nextrim exceed the $5.22 they charged)

Their business practices are so unethical as to be a scam.
