Complaint / Review
NBLA National Better Living Assoc
AMLI American Medical and life Insurance Co. Misled by showing coverage pays $75 for office visit, and paid zero.internet

I lost my COBRA and did a 'find' on the Internet for Health Insurance. People started calling. One of them was a guy who told me about NBLA. I asked him to call later, while I checked some things. I looked it up on the Internet and found the list showing what benefits they paid, and the cost. I checked to see if my doctor was on the list. He was. I went to my Doctor's office, and they said they used this insurance. So, I talked to him again, and signed up over the phone. It was to be effective April 15.

I had a doctor's appointment on April 20th. Then, they told me it was a discount company, and they wouldn't accept it. So, I went home and called NBLA to cancel. They talked me out of it, saying they would call the doctor's office and talk to them. So they went back and forth, one was out of the office, then never called the other. (Both sides blamed the other... When I called a week later to check on it.) The doctor's office said they would file a claim. I kept calling and calling and the doctor's office said they still hadn't heard from the claim department.

I called NBLA again and said I wanted to cancel. Again, they asked me to wait until they talked to the doctors office. It went back and forth again. Finally, I went to the doctor's office, and found out that she had mailed the claim to the wrong address. It was not the address on the back of the card I gave her. She said someone from NBLA had told her to mail it to a different address. I asked her to mail it to the right address. And, I kept waiting, to make sure they were going to pay the $75 it says they will pay for an office visit.

Today, I got an Explanation of Benefits from AMLI, who apparently pays the bills (or not...) for NBLA, and it shows they paid nothing. My husband is also on my account, and he went to the same doctor on August 10th, and they also paid nothing on his bill.

It's a ripoff. The charts showing what they pay, says they pay $75 for a visit... Limit 3 a year. That is a lie. I assume everything else is too.
