My then five year old daughter was given the wrong medication by Rite Aid; a year later, while fully admitting what they did, they're refusing to pay her six-figure medical bills.
My daughter and I were forced to move in with friends in CA immediately after the fact, because I had to leave my job in order to take care of her full-time; the event in NH, and they're banking on the fact that I don't want to repeatedly fly my little girl back to NH to sue them.
My little angel has gone from a bubbly, effervescent little girl who would begin her time on the playground running over to kids she didn't know and asking, "Would you like to be my friend?" to sitting listlessly on the bench, not meeting anyone's eyes. She can't stand it if she's out of my sight or my ex-husband's. They did more than almost take her life; they took her light. Her night terrors, her panic attacks, her migraine headaches, all from the result of nearly dying has put decades into my little baby girl's once dancing eyes.
I've begun countless online campaigns, and told my story to tens of thousands of people; over the summer I had ten thousand strong in my boycott, and hope more by the summer.
What bothers me most is that when I went online, and googled "Rite Aid, Lawuits", there were so many terrifying sites that came up. Most people who get the wrong medication die, so I was lucky in that respect. At one point the entire state of NY sued them. This is a company that is at best truly careless. And it almost cost me my child's life.
I've written a book and a screenplay about my baby's horrible experiences; but mostly I want people to know what she endured. I want people to be informed before they go into that store that claims they're "family friendly". They couldn't give a rip about family—they have shown no more remorse over what they did to my baby than they'd show over a fly they swatted. She is nothing to them. They have not so much as apologized for their mistake.
Please, I'm begging you—don't take your children to Rite Aid. If you have friends or family, tell them to google "Rite Aid Lawsuits" before they take their children there. Do not support these people. Do not risk your life, or even more importantly, your child's life with these people, because I promise you, they will not care at the end of the day.
I will not stop telling my story. I will make sure the PLANET knows that Jessica nearly died at the hands of a cruel corporate company whose sloppy policies have cost many lives.
Protect your family from these monsters. Protect your friends from these monsters. Walgreen's a fabulous, loving, caring company. Take your business there.
