I purchased a single small bottle of Eggenberg beer which was listed on the merchants Shelf at $1.99. When I paid the cashier I noticed the bill was unusually high and checked my bill and found that I was charged $14.99 instead of $1.99 for the beer. The cashier was made aware of the price and he was unapologetic and asked me to go to Customer Service. The Supervisor was unapologetic as well and stated that some single beers do cost $14.99 but refunded the entire amount when I told him I did not need the beer.
I went home and found a receipt for the same beer I purchased on 6/12 that I was charged incorrectly for $14.99 and went back to the wine merchant Total Wine & more, Chantilly, VA and spoke to a Manager/Supervisor Andy who would not believe me till I took him back to the shelf were the beer was and showed him the price label which indicated a price of $1.99, which he took off the shelf where the beer was displayed. If I did not take the time and the effort I would have been charged over $30.00 for two single beers which should have cost me only $3.98.
The merchant should be checking prices more often and should also train their employees to render better customer service for a price error caused by the merchant and the inconvenience to the customer.
