A little over 3 years ago I purchased a whole-house walter filtration system from Aquasana for almost $1,000. The system has a replaceable dual tank canister that acts as the second and third stages in the filtration process. Their website (aquasana.com) states that the unit should last as long as 5 years, but it is only warranted for 3. My use of the system has been minimal as I do not have any children and there has never been more than two people living in the house since I purchased the system. A short time out of warranty, the canisters began leaking at the connections (both top and bottom) where there is a white, plastic ring. When I called the company, the sales person advised that I could either call a plumber (a lost cause as I had already tried to seal the leak, but the tanks are made of a shiny, slick material so that nothing will stick to them and all types of sealants failed) or buy a replacement dual canister set for $600.
