This scam has been all over Twitter and the internet and I embarrassed to say I fell for it. "Single mother claims you can get your teeth whitened, as effectively as a dental whitening procedure... By purchasing 2 trial products that you use consecutively and you only pay S&H fees (under 5 bucks) total for both samples."
That's it, wow then you are sent to both the websites Staywhite & Everbrite to get your free samples. As it state's on each site your are only receiving a trial and you are only paying for shipping and handling fees.
So I received my Staywhite product 1st, which by the way when I ordered both products online, I only received 1 receipt (email) and that was from SmileWhites pro, I tried to copy & paste Everbrites receipt-because they did not email any confirmation, however I could not get it to copy and paste into a word doc. When you get the Staywhite product it actually comes with a receipt and a phone # and it is at this point that you are alerted that you are signed up into an ongoing service-monthly shipments and your are charged a membership fee of 149.95 bucks then $7.95 per month which will automatically start unless you call the phone # get an RMA do not USE the product (hello what happened to trail sample for free?) and then you have 10 days to get the product back to them!
So I call the non-toll # that they give you and waited online for 20 min. Before I get a customer svc rep. I go on to get the RMA, have to pay my own shipping fees expedited I might add so they cannot say they did not receive the product in 10 days. Whew crisis adverted... Not so fast enter Everbrite Smile.
I received the sample (6 treatments) of Everbrite Smile a couple of days after the first product. This is the one that had no reciept when I purchased it, and when I received it there was still no receipt, paperwork, no contact info in the box like what was in the Staywhite product. I thought (silly me) oh well at least this one I won't have to send back.
Fast forward to March (actually ordered the products the first week in Jan) and I get a credit card bill from Mountain Cap Wonder LLC a.K.A. Everbrite Smile for $158.27. I never received any more of this product and actually threw the remainder of the sample in the trash because after 2x use the little plastic mouth tray that comes with it does not fit your mouth.
Since I have no correspondence from this co. I was able to go back to the website, just google Everbright Smiles and it comes in under paid AD number one. I finally was able to find a phone number (non-toll, again) at the very, very bottom of the web page in tiny, tiny letters "terms of condition" link. Mortified, because it is at this point that (after scrolling through paragraphs and paragraphs of legal-ease) I find out that this is another monthly service fee! You will be billed until you cancel the service. Guess what not only do they high jack your credit card but you also don't receive any more crappy product! I never received anything except the trial 6 treatments.
I called the phone number and even though it is a different number than Staywhites, it is the exact call center. The first time I tried to call the girl pretended she could not hear me even though she responded with -Hello? Hello? Mam I can not hear you. Arrrrghh, I hung up and tried again. The next person could hear me but guess what he could not find me in their computer system, but still proceeded to tell me until I cancel it will be a $89 monthly fee. I tried to explain to him I never received anything but the trial product so cancel me now and reverse the fee on my credit card but he kept contending he could not find me in their system. I demanded to speak to the supervisor, which I was put on hold again, and then went through the whole frustrating process again... She had me spell my 1st and last name at least 5 times. She also said that I am not in the system there is nothing she can do! After a 30 minute phone call I finally hung up.
So now I have to dispute the credit card charge, I had to pay S&H fees to have the trial samples, then pay to ship back (only the staywhites), and now it is abundantly clear since they have my credit card number and their customer svcs pretends they cannot find me in their system to cancel any further charges, I have had to cancel my credit card!
This is clearly a one-two punch scam so please don't fall for it! And please contact me if anybody can find out any more info. On the LLC so we can alert the appropriate state and or authority where this Co. Is operating out of. Also since I still have to fight the $158.27 charge with my credit card please contact me if anybody else has won this battle and how they were able to prove fraudulence and not just stupidity on the consumers part.
