On Sunday, January 17, I was at Crossroads Mall in Portage, Michigan and after coming out of the mall, I found a neon yellow sticker with writing on it.
It read verbatum: "NEW YEAR CASH! If you have an extra 8-12 hours per week and desire to earn extra $800-$1000 a month, contact Mackenzie at (269) 978- 2442 Flexible hours—No experience necessary—will train"
So, desperate for work in this shambled economy, I called! No one answered. I got a returned call on Monday, January 18 and spoke with Mackenzie. She gave me the exact address which is: 2401 Gull Road Kalamazoo, MI
She set up an appointment with me for Tuesday, January 19 for 1pm but told me to be there at 12:50pm so she could talk with me.
I asked several times, what is the name of the company which she kept replying that they needed people to expand the business part of it, and to do customer service for the health part of it... Never actually giving me an exact name.
I asked her how long has she been with this company and to give me more facts. She said she moved from Iowa to Michigan and has been with the company for a little more than 6 months. She said the company has been in business for about 15 years.
I asked for a website to check it out: she replied that there is no website that it wouldn't even help me. I replied back that, I think its strange that a company who's had success didn't make a website after being open for 15 years. She replied again that the website would not really help me.
Skeptical—I did some research on www.google.com I typed in the search box: wellness center on Gull Rd.in Kalamazoo and came up with all this information. I clicked on Independent Wellness Center located at the EXACT address that was given to me and found 7 active complaints about how they are part of the Pyramid Scam&they make you sit down and watch a video and then they try and get you to invest in hundreds of dollars with their videos and after they get all their money that they practically stole from people... They hit the road. I was lucky enough NOT to get scammed...
I received a call from Mackenzie this morning, January 19 to "confirm" my appointment and I came out and said: "I know this is a scam." She got defensive and asked: "What would make you say that?" I replied: "I found all I had to read on google.com to find out you guys are part of the Pyramid Scam..." She got angry—and I didn't feel like hearing out what she had to say and I hung up on her. She called me back 4 times!!! In a row! I hung up. She finally stopped.
Now, I'M the one that is ANGRY&This scam, while it does happen all over the world, I ALMOST fell victim to it&I want EVERYONE to be on alert of these papers on their cars, random phone calls and the people never telling you where they got your number, etc etc.
I want everyone to be on the lookout and not fall victim to scams like this! These people should be put in jail&to me, its theft of money and time.
