I recently delivered my second child via c-section. I contacted SRC as soon as I found out that i was pregnant to confirm that my bills would be covered. I was sent information about my plan and was told that my plan pays 80% with my co-pay being 20% up to $10,000 maximum. I felt so relieved.in August my hospital called them to pre-register my surgery since it was scheduled for September 2. They were given the same info and from there the billing dept and i sat down to figure out how my 20% would be paid. I was given the estimate of $2000 would be my portion after SRC paid their end. $2000 is do-able for me and my family so i did not pursue any addtl insurance (my own fault for believing SRC).
Now that the surgery is over and done with I am recieving documents from SRC stating that they will pay $2200 and the remaining $9000 is my portion to pay. Stating that my max benefit has been exhausted. Dumbfounded by the claim i contacted them to find out how it was already maxed out if they did not pay anything since we wre told that they would cover up to $10,000. During phone conversation i was informed that they will pay for the room and board up to $10,000 but surgical procedures and supplies are maxed out at $1000!!! I was outraged! This was not the information that was provided to me when i inquired about benefits of my plan. I would not have wasted my time or money with this company if i would have known that they really do not cover anything. I requested to speak with a supervisor and at that point was told that SRC does not provide major medical coverage!!! WTF?!? What is the point of insurance if they will pay for the stay in hospital but will not help to cover the procedure that placed you there. I feel as though they only provided 1/2 of the info that i needed to make a decision on insurance company. They have no problem taking my money every month, and its damn expensive too, but they don't want to pay for anything. Basically they are not worth the money they charge to provide very limited benefits. They sell you on a plan that sounds like it will cover your needs and stand by the info provided until the bills come out. At that point there whole stand point changes and the information on plan benefits completly change. I was sold on the $10,000 coverage plan and would not have paid $200 monthly to get up to $1000 a year medical coverage. That won't even buy a bandaid and tylenol these days.
