LA Fitness reduced their hours from being open 24 hours to closing at 12 midnight. I didn't find out until I walked in and read a little sign announcing it. They are giving members one week notice but only if they see the sign!
Starting July 13th they will reduce their hours so I called them up and asked if my monthly dues will be reduced by the same percentage. They said no. I asked if I could get a refund for the second half of the month and again they said no.
I told them I was going to cancel my membership but they said I would be billed for the next month. I said that the contract states that if the terms of service have significant changes I can cancel without the 20 day notice. They said that nothing in the contract states the number of hours they are open, so therefore even if I cancel I will be charged for August.
LA Fitness is being very dishonest and they are showing complete contempt for dues paying members and the staff that works the night shift (who are all being fired). My membership was for the Chandler, AZ location only, and they sold me on it because it was 24 hours. They have actually reduced hours for holidays and other "special occasions" but I let it slide. Now they are claiming that they can change the hours anytime they want to — and yet we don't have a right to quit or to get a refund.
LA Fitness thinks they are going to rip me off, but they have a thing coming. Thanks to other reports on this website I know that they will try to bill my credit card no matter what they promise, so I will head that problem off at the pass. I won't get a refund for the second half of July but they aren't going to get my dues — that's for sure.
