Basically the same thing happened to me last month (March) as the previous poster. Dr Garcia and staff attempted to push replacement of silver filings on multiple occasions. Their explanation was that one or more were areas where possible cavity infiltration can occur and can leach mercury into the body. This threat was repeated on three separate visits when I came in for other fillings and cleanings. I then spoke to three other dentists (two are family members of friends) and was told that unless there is actual decay in the tooth, there is no need for replacement of the fillings.
