My dog got bitten by a snake in the eve. I remembered a small vet. So rushed there in westhlly. Big mistake. Staff was great. Emergency service. Rushed my dog back to vet, i waited about an hour. Then told me to wait for doctor in small room. No talk of $. After 30 mins, i ask is dr. Comng? Yes pls wait sir. Another 20 mins. Dr. H arrives. He is what I call "tightly wound up" very formal. He starts to talk, i begin to ask question. He shsss me with his finger.??? Oh my this "Vets" on power trip. I tell him i need to ask questions. Ilove my dog. I am calm not combative, i really do not want to butt heads here just get my dog well. I visit my dog frankie, he was bit in head, but doctor h says only 1dog in eight yrs has died from snake bite. I go out to office. Two girls approach me immediately. Mr. Reed this is your bill. I look. I am shocked. $2800 to$3400. WHAT? Yes antivenom is expensive. Hmmm, ok, ah, I really am in shock, not at all prepared for this. Ok, well, how much can i give you now and tommorrow I will arrange for this. Mr. R we need entire amt now. What? Icannot do that. Well, we must have it. Really? Ok or what? Do I need to take my dog? No, you cannot take your dog. Ms. I can take my dog..."well, let me see if you can do a partial payment" goes to dr. So, i pay $1500 and go home, i come back next day, oh frankie is better, he urinating, swelling is better, smaller, i get a figure of 40% better. Ok, now I have done research. BBB, 11 complaints, many complaints identical to mine on. I do a letter i fax it, telling them of complaints, i include the complaints. And ask them to old my check for 3days till my income comesfrom my properties. They make me sign on back of check turn it into a debit. Ok, thinking "ok" was "ok" no, I call back, we put the check through, WHAT, i gave you a 2page letter request and evidence i am homeowner, not a gypsy. Sorry mr. R you are responsible for payment. My best friends says, why did you do that before you got your dog. Right? They are now going to "kill" my dog? Well, I could not believe that. But that night at 1:30 am I get a call from Dr. H... His voice is strange, very emotional. But "faked emotion" like a kid when you are trying to fake out your mom with quivering voice. Its bad, very bad acting, now I am waking up and this is weird, what is this very very anal retentive vet doing pretending to be upset? I find out. Mr R your, our, frankie has passed on? Again I am in total shock. I mean this little guy was my budddy, how could he go from 40% better to DEAD in 4 hrs? My sister sends me article about snake bites to head are the most deadlly. Ok, but still this is weird. I go to get my dogs body, he is in a cardboard box, they tell me to pick him up outside by the garbage cans, attendant hands him to me. Honestly its not till after you notice all this stuff. Cause i am just frozen, all I care about at that momen is my loss of frankie. I bring him home give him a great send off... But now, more relaxed, I believe I am going to order an autopsy. Its just too very weird. And this place needs to tell people its charges are 3times other vets. Their client base appeared to be while i was there very pampered housewives and extremely attractive young girls, many voiced that "oh others are paying for this" which is fine. But for the poor waitress or myself who just wanted their animal cared for and does not want to pay triple the price. They need to advise people up front. And the attitude of the staff is GET THAT CASH... The front desk is like a betting window at the race track. No lie... Anyway, as i leave, not a word from doctor, who was "crying" on phone, I never see him again.instead, as I walk out "Mr. R" (and I swear this is true. My closest friend can verify) "MR. R"... Not, we are so sorry about your loss... No the front desk says.'Mr Reed you still have a balance of $238 on your bill. Great, have the doctor call me
