I ordered the "free Acai Berry" products off the web, which advertised that I would only be charged $4.95 for shipping on my credit card. I got the product with no invoice insert and never used it. Well, I just got another shipment, along with a bill for $139.97 (enclosed invoice didn't even say what credit card the product was charged to). The box return label only stated "XM Brands", so I opened it. I called UPS, but they say I can't refuse the product once I opened it. They are due to call me back re: a fraud claim.
I FINALLY was able to get the company phone off the web: 800.440.4397 and called. They have it down to a science! They told me that they would only refund me $30 if I send back the product because "I signed the box on the web site" (God only knows where that "box" was... Look at the web site). They insisted it is not fraud (I'm sure they get hundreds of these calls a day). I argued with them and told them I was going to call an attorney. There response: "All calls to attorneys do nothing... We get calls all the time, you signed the box." I explained that they were intentionally deceptive and I was going to call the credit card company. Their response: "Go ahead, you opened the package, and the credit card companies can't do anything."
I called the credit card company... They can't do a thing! Because of that very secretive "box" that I checked off. Now, of course, I go back and look at the "terms"... Check it out. I think I will paying for this product until I die! I explained this concern to the credit card company and they tried calling them while I was on the phone with them so they can witness me cancelling the order (I told them how would I prove that... This company is so deceptive, they can deny it). The company was closed for the day. The credit card company was kind enough to make a notation in their files, "just in case" they try to bill me again.
So... I could do nothing, and STILL have to make sure I cancel this order... I'm worried they will say they canceled. And I will get yet, another box!
This is deceptive. With all of us trying our hardest to make ends meet in this economy, it is sad to see that we can't do anything about this.in reviewing the "fine print" there is also a statement which basically says they can charge whatever the hell they want! I just lost 2/3 of my base salary... Have almost maxed this credit card, and now these "con-men/woman" do this to me.
