I subscribed to Women's Health magazine for one year at $19.97. Once my subscription was over, Rodale / Women's Health Magazine mailed me a hard cover book called Women's Health Total Fitness Guide and charged me $65.22 for the book!
This is an interesting scam. Additionally, Rodale states that you can "review the guide for 21 days". They say that after the 21 days are up, you can mail in your payment of $65.22.
I don't know about you guys in the U.S., but here in Canada, it costs a lot of money to physically mail a hard cover book anywhere now. My post office will charge somewhere in the range of $20 - $30 to ship a heavy hard cover. At that point, I will be paying close to what Rodale charges for the guide itself.
This is a fairly new rip-off scam from Rodale / Women's Health. I expect many other angry subscribers to speak up soon.
If anyone is interested, here is a weblink to their 2008 edition that is no longer available for "purchase"
http://www.amazon.com/Womens-Health-Total-Fitness-Guide/dp/1594868778
Tomorrow I will call the Rodal / Women's Health customer service line and see if they will consider me an "important customer" and honor a cancellation on this ridiculous charge of $65.22 for a book I never asked for and do not want.
Thanks to the mother who posted about this originally. I thought I was alone in this one!
