Just like everyone else who has filed a report here, I too have been ripped off by these extremely dishonest thieves. This company owes me approx. $2200.00 and counting for days worked and checks that bounced. I now have a family attorney working on this and hopefully putting together a Class-action lawsuit. The more names and contact information available, the stronger the lawsuit.
FYI: You should have been considered an employee and received a W-2 and NOT a 1099misc. As an independent contractor. This was just another scam to avoid paying proper taxes and umemployment. The burden of proof is on them.
Violations include but not limited to: paying employees within time frame of labor law requirements; not mailing out W-2/1099misc. Papers by Jan. 31st as required by law; knowingly writing fraudulent payroll checks that had insufficient funds; and filing false exemptions / deductions / earnings with the IRS. Lets not forget to mention THREATENING.
I urge everyone who has been vicitmized by NHT dba Motivators Network, too continue fighting no matter what the dollar amount is owed to you. State laws will require them to pay YOU what they owe in ADDITION to penalties which can add up to hundreds and even thousands.
If you have not done so, PLEASE contact the State Labor Commisssioner (state in which you live/worked), the Better Business Bureau, the Texas Workforce Commission, the IRS (form 3949 A) and the Attorney Generals Office.
Meantime, stay clear of Motivators Network/National Home Trainers for any monetary transactions. And most of all BEWARE the names Christy Lee and Alan Prior.
I will continue fighting and will NOT give up! Nor should you!!!
