I had decided long before setting out to get new glasses that I would NOT get bi-focals ever again. I found Eye Glass World through their advertising. I was very firm when I went in stating that I will not be getting bi-focals.
I discusses my reasons with the examiner before the exam. I am always taking off my glasses to read and even the weakest reading glasses do not help at all. He checked my current bi-focals and told me that they were the weakest possible prescription and so I would not be needing bi-focals.
Happy with the exam, I ordered my glasses.
I was told that the glasses would take 2 weeks. Two weeks later I was told that the type of frames/lenses I ordered takes 3 weeks. After 3 weeks I was told that my lenses were on back order and it would be another week.
Today was the 4th week.
I went in and put my glasses on and could not see anything, near or far. The clerk told me that it would take time to adjust to having bi-focals. I told her that these were not supposed to be bi-focals at all and made her get the manager.
The manager said "If you changed your mind about the glasses we will make you a new pair". He said it would take 2 weeks to get them. I reminded him that I insisted even before the exam that I did not want bi-focals and would not be getting them. I also said that 2 more weeks makes 6 weeks to get my glasses and that was unacceptable. I said I wanted a refund.
He told me that there were no refunds. I showed him my receipt that does not say that. He then led me around the far end of the counter and pointed to sign in a cubby hole that I could not have possibly ever seen before. There was a sign there that said no refunds.
I did not want a refund just simply because I changed my mind. I wanted a refund because they could not deliver the glasses that I paid for with lenses that I could see through.
First off, they are just totally incompetent. Second, they are liars and very dishonest.
I will be to the BBB first thing MOnday and then to small claims court.
