I will not recommend this YMCA to any body if you have to leave your kids alone. Boys and Girls locker rooms are used by adult members whom will take a shower, walk completely naked and dress up, on front of under age kids that are not even related to them. I personally addressed this issue several times to the Management but they do not know what to do because their lack of experience and education. As per today adults are still using the Boys and Girls locker rooms as theirs because they are closer to the pool.
Mold is everywhere.By the pool area, Jacuzzi, in the showers, by the stairs, by the doors, pretty much all around. They use kids with no training whatsoever to drop qumics into the pool and Jacuzzi. Even the Supervisors are not even qualified to supervise that kind of work because they do not know either. So don't be surprised to see a lot of people with red eyes walking around the YMCA. I do like the YMCA because the great amount of activities they offer for kids but lately I became a lot worried about safety inside the YMCA. There is no security personal whatsoever if something happens inside or at the parking lot. They do not supervise the Girls and Boys locker rooms for sexual predators around the kids. Anything can happen to the Kids because there is no YMCA representative watching over the Girls and Boys locker room.
Just few weeks ago one young mother and her children were attacked inside the Girls locker room by another female which wanted to walk naked on front of all the kids, something not permitted in the Girls locker room due to the amount of under aged kids around. This mother told the Body builder female to leave but instead got beatted up by her on front of her kids she said. I saw the attacker. She is twice bigger than the poor mother who couldn't do anything because all the YMCA members were afraid of the attacker. What a bunch of cowards. What the YMCA did? Nothing! Even though they knew the attacker has a history of violence against the YMCA employees in the past, they refused to assist the mother and her children. But what I didn't like the most is that when the Police arrived to the scene the YMCA Reps started to flirting with the two officers and told the mother to be quite and stop making a big drama. I couldn't see what happened inside the locker room but I saw the mother with her hand all red and swollen, she and her children crying all the time afraid of the Big Fat attacker, and showing her hand all swollen by the attack to the officers. She was holding a little girl about 1year old and her other kid was about 4 or 5 years old. It was clear she couldn't fight back due to the other female who was twice strong and big. She was the one who called 911 but the officers took the incident like a cat fight. Could you believe that? That is what the YMCA representatives said after the incident even though they knew the mother was alone with her little kids. Again: shame on the YMCA. Few days later I heard the YMCA reps talking about the incident saying that they were lucky the two officers who came from the Police department were friends so they could get away from a legal complain by the mother. Again: shame on the YMCA
If you are considering taking your kids to the Torrance YMCA make sure you keep an eye on them all the time because they won't do it for you. Also, don't trust the management's judgment because is the worst. Do not take this wrong there are a lot of good and friendly people who work there, but the ones assign to things that matters for safety, health and security should not be working there. They have not training and most of the time they will improvise what to do when a delicate situation arises.
If I could qualify the management I will say 0, zero, nada.
